Jackson, Day 5: GAH!!

I’ll admit it — you didn’t get the full story of the Lazy Sunday.

After the rainy morning, there was a break in the clouds. We all went outside, and somehow…I think he spotted a rabbit…Brother’s tieout got lodged under my big toe nail and tore it off so that it was hanging on one side, like a door flapping on one hinge. It was my own dumb fault for not taking the time to change from my house sandals to shoes, but I was in a hurry to get Jackson outside.

And of course, when there’s a puppy in the house, that puppy will invariably hone in on the one thing you don’t want them to get. Jackson chewed off every single bandage I put on that toe.

Peace followed by Pain…I guess that’s the universe in balance.

I’m still gonna zap him with the squirt bottle if he tries to chew on it again.

Jackson has his first visit to my regular Vet tomorrow. I had his former Vet fax the records down, and got a basic rundown of what he needs. Brother and Sister will also have their annual checkups. This should be interesting.

BratPack, Day 5: Meet the Pack

Message from Joan:

I decided to teach Charlie by example. I took my other two out for a leash walk and he barked and cried at them as if he wanted to tell them what a mistake they were making. I know he couldn’t understand how excited/happy Maggie was when she saw the leash. He barked and cried the whole time we were out – I could hear him from 2 blocks away – that’s about my limit. Maybe walking every morning will increase my ability to walk without getting dizzy. He was much better last night – didn’t blitz until 8 this morning. I pulled a fast one. Put a leash on the floor around his bowl. He pulled it away before eating but he may get used to it after of few meals. He tried to peek into my bed but wouldn’t come close until I was out of the bed and the dogs were still in bed. I’m going to try to slowly catch him later. It would help his legs if I could get some therapy to them – but it’s not worth making him hysterical by catching him. I also need to give him the bath, yet he has discovered that I can’t get to him when he is behind and under the treadles on my loom. Even the grabber is not that long. -

Message from Marilyn:

Ok, we had a great day. Miss Darcy is out of quarantine and with the gang. She seems to be doing very well. She comes in the house when they all come in and follows me everywhere, but still won’t come to me. She peed outside and just seems to enjoy being with all of us. She found a bed and took an afternoon nap. Klein, our Min Schnauzer, who is usually obnoxious with new dogs has been fine and of course Romeo loves all dogs and wants to play with her. She even ran with me today……not that I run very fast. Karen sent me a video of puppy mill dogs learning to follow and it was fun to see all the dogs run and follow me. Miss Darcy kept up with the gang and came right in the door with them. I think she will be okay now, had my doubts, but she is so much better today. Here is a photo of Miss Darcy’s first day with the pack.
